Elk Grove Village “Bakers Wanted”

The city of Elk Grove Village is not shy about bringing new business to their city. They even went as far to sponsor a college bowl game all the way out in Hawaii to gain the attention of businesses. While working at Banner, we created a lot of commercials and advertising initiatives for the creative Mayor Craig Johnson, but this one was always really special to me because it highlighted a small business.

Nutphree’s Bakery specializes in creating peanut and tree nut-free baked goods, so you can always feel safe knowing your baked goods are allergen free when you’re hosting a party or event. We built off of a previous video that Banner put together, highlighting Elk Grove Village’s new “Maker’s Wanted” campaign. The concept used mixed-media animation so that each scene had the appearance of being created from the ground up, much like the businesses they aimed to attract.

We applied a similar treatment to this video, but this time Banner sent out a small production team to capture photos of the store and interview the store owners. I took it from there, editing together the story and animated the graphics.

Unfortunately, Nutphree’s Bakery had to shut its doors during the pandemic but I was really touched to help tell their story.
